Motherhood can feel isolating. The sleepless nights, the questions no one seems to answer, the moments when you wonder if you’re doing it right—these are parts of the journey many mothers face alone. But they don’t have to. At Gravidities, we’ve partnered with La Leche League International, a global organization dedicated to supporting breastfeeding families through peer counselling and community, to create something truly special: a safe, intimate space where mothers (and sometimes extended family) can connect, learn, and feel genuinely supported.

Our monthly Breastfeeding Gathering is different from a class. There’s no lecture, no hierarchy. Instead, it’s a circle of mothers—typically limited to 20 participants to keep it truly intimate—gathering to explore topics that matter to their lives. We cycle through four themes across the year:

  1. Great Expectations: Breastfeeding Benefits Everyone — Why breastfeeding matters, not just for babies but for families and society.
  2. Realistic Expectations: A New Baby in Your Family — The real, messy, beautiful adjustment to becoming a mother. (This session welcomes fathers and extended family too, because supporting the mother is everyone’s job.)
  3. What to Expect: Knowing What’s Normal and Avoiding Problems — Practical guidance on what’s typical at different stages and how to prevent and troubleshoot common concerns.
  4. Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? Beginning Solids — Exploring the transition to solid foods while maintaining the breastfeeding relationship.

Each gathering is structured to allow real connection. We start with introductions and settling in, move into expert-led discussion and peer sharing, and end with time to socialize one-on-one, with individual help available if needed. It’s a potluck style—bring food to share if you can—which adds to the warmth and community feel.

The partnership with La Leche League brings decades of evidence-based peer support expertise, while Gravidities provides the clinical knowledge through Dr. Nurzarina and our team. It’s the best of both worlds: heart and expertise, community and knowledge.

Mothers frequently tell us that attending these gatherings changed how they felt about breastfeeding and motherhood. They left feeling less alone, more confident, and part of something meaningful. Children are always welcome, and for certain sessions, partners and family members are invited to better understand and support the breastfeeding mother.

Ready to find your tribe? Our Breastfeeding Gathering is free, intimate, and truly community-focused. Whether you’re expecting, nursing a newborn, or navigating later stages of breastfeeding, there’s a place for you here. Come as you are, ask your questions, and discover the power of mothering alongside other mothers.
